The measles epidemic raging in Switzerland since November 2006 has increased during the first two months of the year…

The Federal Office of Public Health already has more than 400 cases, over a third of the total infections recorded in 2007.

Last year, 1081 people were suffering from measles. The epidemic had raged mostly in July (161 cases) and August (169 cases).

Earlier this week, the university student council had voted in favor of its removal from the Pan Canadian Shinerama almost unanimously support a motion claiming that the disease was not inclusive enough. The motion stated that cystic fibrosis mainly affecting the white men and that the students wanted rather than their efforts serve diverse communities.

Roger Levesque, Irena Kukavica Ibrulj-Catherine Paradis-Bleau and Francis Sanschagrin, Faculty of Medicine, and fifteen other British and Canadian researchers explain in the pages of this magazine with high impact factor how they have highlighted the role of segments of viral DNA integrated into the genome of a bacterium in its infectivity…

Approximately 90% of 5,600 genes of this bacterium are common to its various strains. So what can hold the remaining 10% to account for differences in virulence between strains have to find out, researchers have sequenced a variety particularly aggressive P. aeruginosa isolated in 1996 during an epidemic that hit a hospital in Liverpool where treated children with cystic fibrosis.
